Volunteers Who Love the Snow

Some of us in Wisconsin love the snow, the cold temperatures, and the feel of winter. And some of us stick it out here during the winter months because we have nothing better to do.

We have a great idea for those of us who are looking for something new to fill a winter morning or an afternoon on Tuesdays and Thursdays--all day or part of a day, once a week or twice a week, once a month or twice a month. We are flexible. You can volunteer at Among Friends Dementia Social Respite Program. You can bring your talents, and we will provide you with training to make sure your are comfortable and well informed about working with people with varying types of dementia and behaviors.

Because several of our current volunteers are snowbirds and will be gone for a few months, we are searching for new volunteers to join Among Friends. You can play cards or dominoes or tabletop volleyball, you can help with art projects or jigsaw puzzles, you can serve coffee or lunch, or you might put some of your skills and talents--singing, dancing, woodworking, flower arranging, chatting, walking around the block with friends--to great use.

Our services resume after the holidays on January 6th and are available to families experiencing dementia on Tuesdays and Thursdays in River Falls from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

If you would like to join us as a volunteer, please contact us at amongfriendsrf@gmail.com, amongfriendsrf.com, or (715) 293-2561. We will send you information and an application, set aside a time for you to visit, and arrange for orientation.
