Time to Make New Friends

Now that the cabin is closed for the season, the kids and grandkids are back in school, and you are looking for a new opportunity for your mom or dad or spouse to make new friends and experience new things, consider a visit to Among Friends Dementia Social Respite Program.
We are conveniently located in River Falls and meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am until 3 pm. Our services include a healthy lunch and snacks, music, chair yoga, crafts, games, great conversation, and a nearly one-to-one match of staff and volunteers to participants.

Our program is great for individuals experiencing dementia--but, just as importantly, for caregivers also who need some time for themselves to work, to arrange their own health appointments, to get a haircut, or to meet friends over coffee. Sometimes, caregivers just need a rest, some alone time, a moment to take care of themselves. The following comments from caregivers represent the feelings of many of our families:
“I could not survive the week without this program.”
“Our mother had several strokes and dementia set in quickly. For her, life was reduced to dependence and confusion. Among Friends gave her back the quality of life that even her family could not provide. It restored independence and dignity.”
“Without the program, I would not be able to keep my spouse at home with me.”
